Why?

Our plan to build a boutique downtown Providence started with our own personal desire to have a pedestrian friendly charming commercial destination in our community. A destination that is unique to Providence with local businesses that engage the public and enhance the community. A place that is easy and convenient to meet up with friends or have spontaneous social interactions with other members of the community. We have seen other cities and towns revitalizing their downtowns and it has always felt like Providence missed out on having the classic main street from history and hallmark movies. That is what we want to create!

Who?

We are currently engaging with multiple local entrepreneurs from a range of specialties! These include a local baker, cafe owner, florist, candy shop merchant, boutique owner and others. Providence Town Square includes 6 flexible business spaces. We plan to fill these with local businesses that engage with and enrich the community. The project will also provide 6 second level unique 2 bed 2 bath apartments, each with its own features and historic finishes to make it special.

What?

Our goal is to make people unfamiliar with the property’s history assume the buildings were built around the same time as the Old Rock Church.  Sections of the building will be inspired by historic buildings from around this area. We plan to use architectural details and materials from the existing home on the building to pay tribute to the history of the property and community.

Where?

So much of Cache Valley has become uncomfortable to access by foot or bicycle. The location of Providence Town Square is central to the community while still balancing automobile traffic with pedestrian comfort. It is still accessible to all but doesn’t feel like you are sitting next to a highway or in a large parking lot. The location also falls in the Providence Downtown Core area as described by the future land use section of the Providence City General Plan. The Providence downtown core description matches our design perfectly.

How?

In order to build a boutique downtown, we need mixed use zoning. Mixed use zoning will allow us to build commercial space on the main floor and residential apartments on the second level. This building style is what Providence City’s future land use section of the general plan calls for in this area. While development is planned for in this area, we want to make sure it fits in with the homes around it and that what is build is charming and truly special!

Honoring Site History

There is a building on the site that has received a lot of attention with our rezone request. The building was once used as a tithing house which made this an area that brought the community together. Our goal is to honor this history by creating a community gathering place on this site again. Our initial plan was to reuse materials and architectural details from the building in our project and install a plaque to memorialize the history of the parcel. With that said, we can still honor the existing building architecture while using new materials. That allows us to donate the building to any person or group that is willing to pay to move it in a specific timeframe. Please contact us if you want to relocate the existing building.
